What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a trance-like mental state in which you will experience increased attention, concentration and suggestibility. It is often described as a sleep-like state and feels like the moments just before you drift off into a deep sleep. Hypnosis has been shown to have medical and therapeutic benefits, most notably in the reduction of pain and anxiety.
Hypnosis is actually a very natural state that we drift in and out of several times a day without even realising it. When in trance, the brain goes into a Theta state which is the optimum state for the unconscious mind to absorb new, empowering positive suggestions. Hypnosis can be used to assist many problems such as insomnia, anxiety, stop smoking and weight loss. It can also be used to increase self acceptance, confidence and peak performance states.
Despite hearing stories about people being hypnotised without their consent, hypnosis does require voluntary participation on the part of the patient. Individual results vary as people vary in terms of how hypnotisable and suggestible they are.
A hypnotist cannot make you perform actions that are against your wishes. Your unconscious mind wants to keep you safe so it simply will not take suggestions from your therapist that will go against your best wishes, put you in any danger or make you do anything against your free will.

HOW IT WORKS:
Most hypnotherapy treatments require more than one session to be of maximum benefit. Please allow for a minimum of 4 sessions per problem/issue.
We may utilise various coaching techniques alongside the hypnotherapy sessions to ensure maximum impact for our clients. For example, we utilise goal setting and emotional balance techniques alongside hypnotherapy for our stop smoking clients. We find that this combination works really well in anchoring the benefits to our clients to stop smoking and also gives them something to focus their energy on post treatment.
